J. SCOTT PURDY is a life-long painter, beginning his study under the tutelage of Herb Jackson.

His love for science and nature is seen in his work, creating colorful abstract visions which hint at reality while retaining a playful mood and a sense of humor.

Other than spending time with family or playing golf with friends, painting is one of Purdy’s favorite creative outlets.

Purdy received a BS from Davidson College and an MD from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.

He did his internship and residency at UVA affiliated Roanoke Memorial Hospital.  Dr. Purdy spent 11 years in practice as a primary care clinician.

He sold his interest to a partner in 2004 and returned to Charlotte NC where he is a founding principal in an investment firm.
